Ways To Profit With Back End Products

The best way to make money as an online business owner is through the use of back end products and offers.

A back end offer is simply a product or service that is offered to your customers after they have already purchased something from you. These are the most profitable type of sales, since you have already acquired the customer. In fact, once you have developed a series of back end products, you may even be able to afford to take a loss on the initial sale.

Back end offers really increase the lifetime value of a customer. You have already spent money on marketing to acquire the customer. Hopefully you have been lucky enough to make a profit on the initial sale. Now, everything else that you sell to that customer is pure profit. This is why many of the most successful marketers have a whole line of complementary products.

For example, take a look at the infomercials on late-night TV. Most of these actually lose money initially. However, you will then be sold a variety of add-on items (to make the first product work more effectively), and will be sold a subscription offer, vitamin plan, etc… This is smart marketing.

When you are creating your products, you should give some serious thought to what you will promote on the back end. Some excellent ideas are a monthly subscription or membership plan. Another great idea is to start a coaching program. Both of these are very easy to set up and run.

You could even combine online and offline methods for these offers. Write a monthly newsletter. Maybe even include a cd or a dvd as part of the package. A great service for producing these are kunaki dot com. They are also very affordable. You could even outsource the writing, typesetting and design of your monthly newsletter. If you have even less time available, another way of quick newsletter creation is to create an audio of what you want wrote and then send that to a freelance writer.

Incidentally, a professional monthly package like this really carries a very high perceived value. Your customers will be impressed to see a high-quality newsletter along with a professionally crafted cd (or dvd). This will also build credibility and trust with your customers. Then, you will be able to market more back end products to them.

Another great idea for a back end product is a monthly coaching program. What is your initial product about? Could you provide some extra training on one aspect of that topic? Obviously, it helps if you are a genuine expert in this area or market niche. Then again, even if you are not, just scour the internet and find the information you need.

The conclusion is that you never want simply to create a single product. You need to think what can be added to it to create extra value and higher profits. Make them all build on each other. Then you can afford to spend more money than your competitors to acquire customers. And you will make money. Back end sales are really where your profits lie.

    A Summary of Online Marketing

Internet marketing is basically the act of selling online, both to individuals and to other businesses (B2B). Exploring the idea thoroughly and seeing how it takes place is harder to do. The main reason for this is that the internet is still young and is constantly growing. This makes it full of change.

Continued growth in internet technology is always giving new chances for businesses to add to their sales strategy and content. Also, growth in technology is providing less expensive to the consumer, therefore, many more people are using their computers daily. As more people go online, the demographic is changing, and focusing sales efforts on the rich isn’t the only goal of internet marketing. Today internet businesses must plan to sell to all economic levels.

The 1990s showed internet marketing go crazy. As with any totally new idea, caution disappeared in all the excitement. It never occurred to marketers that the same concepts could be applied to sales as were working in the rest of society. Failure to examine markets and come up with solid plans of action led to the failure of many new businesses by the end of 2000. Those who managed to make it through, and all those that came after started getting smart-and online marketing exploded.

Industries and marketers are now taking a more cautious approach to this. The practice of advertising to a specific market has made the endeavors succeed. The internet makes it possible for almost any business to be represented. Many promotion firms give the opportunities a business requires to get their products out to buyers, Small firms often choose to take care of sales promotion on their own. These companies can find inexpensive avenues for their plans also.

Using search engines can provide sellers with an idea of what products people look for. This offers a big chance to know what is needed on the market. To emulate the advertisements shown on television or radio, markets use pop-up windows and advertising placed directly on a website. E-mail has proven to be a wonderful means of selling, but this usually only proves successful after a business has established a good relationship with the customer.

People are spending more time on the internet daily, and their numbers are growing. This is easy to figure out why: the easy access to the internet, added to the increasing ability of the internet to aid completion of tasks, has allowed for all manner of business to be completed with the click of a mouse. Many chores no longer need to be done by hopping in a vehicle and taking a drive. This means relationships are increasing through the internet, and as they grow, the internet sales have risen into the billions of dollars. Better technologies, and more traffic, are pointing to a future for internet marketing that is out of this world.

    Why Publish an eZine?

On the Internet, it is very possible to make money without selling any product. One way of doing so is through starting your own eZine, also known as an electronic newsletter.

In a nutshell, you send out your eZine issues on a periodical basis to your subscribers. The good part is that you have a flexible choice in automating the process of sending out your eZine issues for you or manually sending them on a periodical basis.

As an eZine publisher, not only can you easily achieve the benefits a conventional newsletter publisher enjoys without having to chop down several trees in the process, you can easily and conveniently spread your marketing influence and expertise to your base of subscribers from the shoes of an ordinary individual.

In other words, you do not have to invest in expensive printing equipment, brick and mortar business, and hiring staff just to run your own newsletter publication, resulting in a lot of time, money and effort saved.

Basically, all you need to start your own eZine are an auto responder and broadcast feature to go with, enabling you to reach out to your massive subscribers whom you can regard as your prospects, too.

All in all, if you do not have the commitments of creating your own product for sale, then publishing your own online newsletter can be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make, given the benefits of impressive marketing power and influence it can offer to you.

How to Accept Payment for Your Niche Products

Internet Marketing Articles No Comments »
    AddThis Social Bookmark Button

In the early days of internet marketing accepting payment for products sold online was a real headache, fortunately for you this is no longer the case and you don’t even need a merchant bank account. Over the last few years a number of companies gave positioned themselves as third party credit card processors which allow you to accept payments by credit card at your website for your product or service.

In a typical online purchase your customer will enter their credit card information into a form, and each third party processor has their own particular form (known as a gateway). The third party processor contacts the bank that issued the customer’s credit card and the issuing bank approves or declines the transaction based on the information entered into the form. The processor routes the result back to the customers computer screen either as a “purchase declined” message or by passing your customer onto the web page containing your sales fulfillment information.

If the transaction was successful, the customer’s credit card will be billed for the selling price of your niche product or service. This service is not free and you will be charged a set fee for each transaction. The most common third party payment processors are:

    1) PayPal (https://www.paypal.com)

PayPal is owned by eBay the world’s biggest online auction and can be used by customers living in the developed world. Opening a PayPal account id free, but you will need to verify your bank and contact details before being able to use it for accepting payments at your website. There is a fee charged for each transaction and this is automatically deducted from the selling price charged to the customer.

You can link your PayPal account to your bank account which makes it a simple task to transfer the money made from your sales into your account. Your normal banking transaction fees will be charged on this service.

Be careful of using an un-encrypted PayPal payment link on your website as it is a simple task for link highjackers to change the details to their own so they get the money for every sale you make…

PayPal can be easily incorporated into a shopping cart system (i.e. you can sell multiple products at different prices all in one transaction).

    2) 2CheckOut (http://www.2checkout.com)

2CheckOut is a very popular third party payment processor and although there is a small setup fee, they don’t charge a monthly fee for their services; they do charge a small fee for each transaction processed. As with PayPal, you can use 2CheckOut with a shopping cart system.

One advantage of using 2CheckOut is you can accept credit cards payments from customers living virtually anywhere. The will transfer money directly into any US or Canadian bank and send a monthly check or Bank Wire to non-US bank account holders.

    3) ClickBank (http://www.clickbank.com)

ClickBank is another similar third party payment processor who have restricted their service to suppliers of downloadable products or internet services. For example, e-books, one time membership fees, software programs etc. To open a ClickBank account there is a small one time setup fee, no monthly fee and you are charged a small fee on every transaction processed on your behalf. You will be sent a check twice a month for all the sales you make during that period.

One major benefit of Using ClickBank for your niche product is you can set up your affiliate program through them and they will automatically pay your affiliates for every sale made on your behalf.

One big disadvantage of using ClickBank is that there is you can’t incorporate their payment gateway into a shopping cart system.

    4) Digibuy (http://www.digibuy.com)

Like ClickBank, Digibuy can only be used if you sell digital products or services that can be downloaded, the major advantage of using Digibuy is that you can use a shopping cart with their payment gateway (i.e. you can sell multiple products).

Unfortunately they don’t include an affiliate payment system like ClickBank.

Your choice of third party payment processor is going to depend on how many products you sell and whether you intend to run an affiliate program. One extra consideration is some customers will be unwilling to use their credit card on the internet. For these customers you need to decide whether it’s worthwhile accepting alternate forms of payment… Some third party payment processors, for example Digibuy, allow you to accept alternate forms of payment through them as default.

A Popular Auto Responder Marketing Technique

Marketing through auto responder series is a popular strategy to increase repeat website visits and sales. Here is a popular strategy.

    EZINE EBOOK

Instead of trying to publish a small daily or weekly eZines, try publishing one large monthly eZine (similar to a monthly magazine) as an e-book format delivered via auto responder, preferably an Adobe .pdf file. You could have it made up of a large number of articles per issue and insert regularly featured areas throughout like inspirational quotes, industry tips, favorite sites and advice from the pros. You could also insert full-color graphics, multimedia components like audio / video file links and ads. Then you can charge a monthly rate, with an annual discounted package purchase, and sell advertising spots to sprinkle in your auto responder announcements for each issue and with an informational series to announce your monthly eZine to new prospects.

In summary, by using customized marketing techniques like an eZine eBook, tailored to fit your own products and services, you can reach out and increase your website traffic and sales opportunities. Internet marketing can mean more ways to grow your business.

Great Sources for Free Shopping Carts

Internet Marketing Articles No Comments »
    AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Choosing the best shopping cart is very important to the success of your online e-commerce venture. Many businesses are now using shopping carts combined with automated payment acceptance gateways, giving both them and their customers more ease of use and flexibility.

So what is a shopping cart? A shopping cart is a tool used by internet marketers to help buyers select various products from different pages of their website, before proceeding to a virtual ‘checkout’. The term “shopping cart” is a metaphor webmasters use to describe their sales process that customers can relate to, especially if they have been shopping in any supermarkets. A good shopping cart will incorporate the following:

    1) An unlimited number of products which can be grouped by categories or displayed in one long list. You should also be able to set the maximum number of items listed per web page.

    2) Shipping costs are displayed per unit or bulk. When goods are sent individually, the shipping costs are more expensive, so your shopping cart should automatically use the correct shipping cost based on the number of items ordered.

    3) Additional shipping options should be available to the customer based on whether they want standard, 2 day or overnight shipping.

    4) For international customers, the shopping cart should be able to store and display international shipping costs.

    5) Many countries require sales tax to be charged on any sales made in that country so the shopping cart must be able to calculates local sales tax.

    6) There’s little point to installing a shopping cart if it does not support most of the credit card processing gateways which must be able to accept credit cards, checks and PayPal

    7) Once a customer has paid, the shopping cart must send an automatic order confirmation email to customer.

Behind the scenes, the shopping cart doesn’t handle the actual transaction, but acts as a front-end to gather data on customer selections. It then passes on its information to a payment gateway via a secure web page. The customer’s credit card is verified, and the payment directed to your account. Once the payment is made, the transaction details are relayed back to the shopping cart, which then tells the buyers how their order will be fulfilled if their payment was accepted.

One of the ‘free’ payment solutions available is the one offered PayPal, which integrates basic shopping cart functions (the PayPal shopping cart is very basic and does not offer feature like shipping options) without the need for a separate merchant account or payment gateway. There are no setup fees, monthly fees, or gateway fees but you will pay a low fee on each sale you make. This fee will vary according to the volume of sales you make through your PayPal shopping cart.

When it comes to paying for their products, your customers have the choice of paying by major credit card, debit card, instant bank transfer, eCheck or through their own PayPal account balance. They don’t have to own a PayPal account to make a payment as they would have in the past.

From a security point of view, PayPal offers free fraud protection services and there are no chargeback fees. They also offer web developers a wide variety of easy-to-use tools to help things run more smoothly.

One of the biggest drawbacks to using PayPal is that link highjackers can easily divert the funds from your sale into their own account. Your customers won’t know this has happened because the funds leave their account and they get their goods, as far as they are concerned the transaction was successful.

Another good free shopping cart is the one offered by AgoraCart.com, and most website hosting companies offer this as part of their service. If you have a merchant account, you can link Agoracart to any major payment gateway. Agoracart can also be linked to third party credit card processors such as 2CheckOut.

A third free shopping cart available online is the “Light” version offered by eMartCart.com which is free as long as you have less than 45 orders per month and less than 25 products, thereafter you have to upgrade. It is however a full featured shopping cart and well worth investigating.

Before choosing a shopping cart do some investigation, find out exactly which features are available with each shopping cart and only choose the one that best suits your business needs.

5 Simple Steps to Accepting Payments.

Internet Marketing Articles, Make Money Online No Comments »
    AddThis Social Bookmark Button

When you’re selling things, you need people to be able to pay you. Sure, they could send you cheques in the post, but that’s not really convenient or scalable, is it? No, to do business on the web, you need to be able to accept card payments electronically – and, luckily for you, it’s never been easier. Here’s the whole process, in five simple steps.

Step 1: Choose a Payment Service.

While you could get a merchant account and do your own card processing, it isn’t usually worth it, unless you do an awful lot of transactions. For most business, third-party payment services are a better solution, and there are lots of services out there that let you accept card payments for a small fee.

When you choose a payment service, then, the main things you want to consider are the prices, and whether your customers will trust it. You used to need to consider which services your customers would have accounts with, but as most services now let you accept payments from people who don’t have accounts with them that’s not much of an issue any more.

Right now, the biggest general payment player is PayPal, and they’re worth considering first, but you should be aware that many businesses have had issues with PayPal freezing their accounts and being slow to respond (see www.nopaypal.com for more). StormPay (www.stormpay.com) is a decent general-purpose PayPal alternative, and useful to keep around as a backup. You might also like to check out more specific services, such as AuctionCheckout (if you’re taking payments for auction items) or ClickBank (non-physical products only, popular for ebook sales).

    Step 2: Create an Account.

The next step is to create an account at your chosen online payment provider. This will require you to give out either your personal name and address or a business name and address. Depending on who you’re registering with, you may also need to give out credit card or bank details. It almost goes without saying that you shouldn’t give these details out to anyone you’re not sure of – be suspicious of payment services that you’ve found with a search but never actually seen in use.

    Step 3: Get Verified.

Before you can receive any significant amount of money, most payment providers require you to become ‘verified’ – this is usually nothing more than the minimum they need to do to comply with the law. If you haven’t been asked for your bank and credit card details already, you will be at this point, and some services will even ask you to fax them a photocopy of your physical card, to prove you’re the real cardholder. Some services will even cross-reference your phone number with your address and then phone you up to make sure it really was you. Don’t be too disturbed by all this: it’s all in the name of security, and you’re not doing anything bad (or at least I hope you’re not!).

Step 4: Add the Payment Button to Your Pages.

When it comes time to actually start accepting customers’ money through the service, all you’ll need to do in most cases is add some kind of button or image of a button to your sales page that says ‘Pay Now’. The payment service will usually provide the HTML for this, and a few tutorials to explain things like ways to make sure that the correct amount shows up on the payment page.

    Step 5: Withdraw Often.

Whenever you’re dealing with electronic payments, the final step is to withdraw every time you get an amount of money you consider significant, and an absolute minimum of once per week. There are all sorts of reasons for this, but the biggest one is that online payment services aren’t anywhere near as strictly regulated as other financial institutions, and aren’t under that much of an obligation to give it to you in any timely manner. You should consider any money left with them to be at risk until it’s securely in your bank account. Besides, you don’t want your money sitting there earning interest for them instead of you, do you?

10 Sure-fire Ways to Kill Your eBay Business.

Internet Marketing Articles No Comments »
    AddThis Social Bookmark Button

It’s surprisingly easy to kill your eBay business, if you’re not careful – sure, you can start over from scratch without it costing you anything, but do you really want to? Still, if you want your business to end up dead in the water, here are some simple ways to do it.

Lie about an item: Say it works fine when it sometimes doesn’t work. Say it’s in perfect condition when it has a scratch. Your customers will hate you!

Post whenever you feel like it: Make sure to leave your customers hanging around, wondering when their item is going to turn up. This makes sure they buy from someone else next time.

Let items end anytime: Few people will be around to care about your auction if it ends in the middle of the night. Why go to the trouble of working out whether auctions will end at a good time?

Don’t bother with email: Customers are just timewasters anyway. eBay businesses are supposed to run themselves! Never give informed responses to questions about your item.

Sell rubbish: Really, it’s just eBay. You can just sell any old tat from the market for a 200% profit. Let quality be someone else’s concern – I mean, really, what do they expect for that price?

Refuse to give discounts: You know what your items cost, you know what your profit margin is going to be, and you’re not going to negotiate. Remember that giving customers special deals might make them feel good and come back to you again.

Make your listings ugly: As many colours, flashing lights and animations as possible will really give those customers a headache. Write as much in CAPITALS!!!! as you can. Preferably big, red capitals. Be sure to use the fonts Impact and Comic Sans. For an extra special touch, see if you can figure out a way to add some music.

Don’t take photos: It’s such trouble, after all. If buyers are picky enough to actually want to see items before they bid on them, then screw ‘em, that’s what I say.

Write short descriptions: Be as brief as possible, and use lots of mysterious abbreviations. This obviously makes you look very cool. You can even just write the title again in the description box. Think of the effort you’ll save!

Use reserve auctions: Now, this is a fairly controversial final choice, but it really is one of the best ways to scare away your customers. They’ll see ‘reserve not yet met’, and click that ‘back’ button before you know it. Luckily, they can always bid in a normal auction for the item somewhere else.

Now that you know the ten ways to kill your eBay business, how about we explore what to do if you want to do the opposite, and make a success of it? The next email will give you ten steps to successful selling on eBay.

Don’t let Poor Customer Service Kill Your Business

Internet Marketing Articles No Comments »
    AddThis Social Bookmark Button

One of the quickest ways to kill your internet business, or any business for that matter, is to offer poor customer service. When people take the time to complain about some part of your product or service they will have been stewing away for a while before they decided to contact you. If they can’t get hold of your or you don’t respond to their communication, you’ll end up with a very angry customer. When that angry customer has had enough and decides to let the world know about your terrible product they’ll attract attention like bees to a honey pot.

The last thing you want for your business is bad press. Bad news spreads quicker than good news… People love to have something to gripe about and if that gripe is about your product, you’re going to loose sales very quickly.

Before you can decide on a good customer service system, you need to be absolutely certain your product is top quality and will exceed your customer’s expectations. Once you are sure of your product you can be fairly certain that customer service issues will be related to:

    - Payment problems.

    - The customer purchased the wrong product.

    - Installation issues for software products.

    - Setup problems for a web service.

    - Delivery problems for a physical product.

You need to decide on some basic ground rules for your customer service department. For example:

    - Will you handle all customer service issues yourself, or will you hire somebody to do it for you?

    - How quickly will you reply? If it is going to be longer than a few hours, you need to send an immediate email acknowledging the issue and stating that you will reply within 12, 24 or 48 hours, what ever you decide on.

Next you need to decide on the actual method you will use to receive and reply to customer service issues. The three most popular customer support systems are:

    1) Normal Email.

As part of your website you could have a web page with your contact details and simply state your email address as one of the methods to get hold of you.

Bear in mind that email harvesting programs will get your email address and over time you will be inundated with spam. To get around this you could use a small graphic which contains your email address, or you could display it in this format: “me [AT] mywesite.com” with a note to your customers to replace [AT] with @.

Another point to consider is using a unique email address for customer service issues. You don’t want to mix this email with any other accounts, keep it separate so you can keep track of it.

    2) Feedback scripts.

There are simple feedback scripts which are freely available online and which allow your customers to contact you without you having to display an email address anywhere on your website. Your email address will not even be embedded in hidden form fields or other HTML tags.

These scripts allow you to use a form on a contact page into which your customer can enter their contact details and the nature of their customer service issue. The script will then email these details to your email address.

While these scripts are more secure than leaving your email address visible on a web page, they don’t offer a means of tracking support issues.

    3) Help Desk scripts.

By far the most professional method of providing effective customer support is to use a help desk system. Your customer will have to open an account before they can log a support request which eliminates most non-genuine support issues. After opening an account, they can log a support issue which is automatically given a unique identification and the details stored in a database. The customer is immediately sent an email explaining that their support issue has been logged and they can expect a reply in 12, 24, or 48 hours, or whatever time span you set.

The beauty of a help desk support system is that even if your email fails for some reason, you won’t miss any support requests. All you have to do is login to your support desk administration panel and all the unanswered support requests received will be displayed. Your task is then to answer each support issue and the system will automatically mark the issue as closed.
