Making Money with Articles: Free Article Content

Some webmasters try to use articles from free content directories to get visitors to their site and make some money. This is mostly important for those who have just begun working as an affiliate for several companies and do not yet have any funding, yet need to built small niche websites to visitors to their site so that they can begin making revenue.

Although this can sometimes be the only option for those who are running on a non-existent budget, it is not a way that will effectively build your website or revenue. There are a few potential reasons why this may be detrimental to your business building efforts.

Problem #1 – Search Engines

Search engines will only look down upon your site if it has the exact same duplicated content than other sites. The more sites that share your content, the less it will help you achieve good search engine rankings.

Good search engine rankings are essential in getting visitors to your sit so that they have a chance to click on your affiliate links. If you cannot even get visitors, then will never make an revenue. Working on the search engine optimization of your site so that you will eventually be high enough in the results to get customers, should be priority one.

Problem #2 – Getting visitors to click

Although getting your site high on search engine result pages and acquiring site visitors is hard work, unfortunately this is only half of the battle. You must also be able to convince those visitors to click on your affiliate links. If your visitors see the same content they have seen on a multitude of other sites, they will be least likely to click on your links. This is because most people want to buy things that are recommended by people that they trust or whom they feel like are an expert on the subject.

If your content is just duplicated from other sites, you will be exposed as someone who does not really know what they are talking about and therefore will not look heavily on your product recommendations. This will reduce the number of website visitors who will be willing to click through.

Problem #3 – Author Bylines

Most free content is only given to you if you agree to place the authors byline under the article (you can get into trouble if you try to use it without following the stipulated rules). This poses a problem because most author bylines include links. When a reader gets done reading a really intriguing article, there is a strong possibility that they will click on the author’s byline link rather than your affiliate links. This is the entire reason why these authors offer free content to begin with, so that they may get their name and links out there to the public. Using this type of content may mean shooting yourself in the foot and losing possible profitable website visitors.

Once you put these three problems together, you are looking at a serious decline in revenue simply because you used free website content from article directories. Although it may be the only option for some, if you have the funds to buy your own original content, then you should go this route. If you don’t have the finds, however, you may be better off writing your own content and then hiring professional services once you have made a profit to work with.

Have a Mailing List of Your Own

No matter what type of email you send out, you’ll need a mailing list. The basic way to build a mailing list is by capturing name and email address information for everyone who buys or shows interest in your product.

An email list that YOU COLLECT YOURSELF is worth its weight in gold. This can be accomplished by using a list manager on your site. List managers also provide the HTML coding for the form on the Gateway pages. A list manager collects the email addresses that are gathered with the form. Thus, your email list is collected. This might take some time so there are methods to use until you get your own email list built.

One way to build a mailing list is to do ad swaps with other list owners. The way this works is, you (as company A) have an email list that you send newsletters to and another list owner (company B) has a list they send newsletters to. Company A and Company B place ads on one another’s mailing lists. Each of you is promoting the other’s list.

You can rent or buy targeted email lists. The list you develop using your own customers’ names is called your “house list.” Of course, when you’re first starting out, your house list is likely to be skimpy. To augment it, one way to go is rent or buy a mailing list. There are two ways to buy or rent a mailing list—approaching the company you want to rent from directly or using a list broker. Any company that emails information to its customers usually has a list manager, who handles inquiries and orders for the mailing list.

Another way to build an email list is to list your newsletter in all of the ezine directories.

Joint venture partners are easy to come across. Actually, there are numerous people around who would happily join forces with you on a joint venture partnership. You need to decide what you are looking for in a partner before you search one out.

Tip one: Be the type of person that you wish to have for a partner. This encompasses several different traits of who you are, but there are two that are the most important. The first and most likely the most crucial trait is whether or not you can be trusted. People aren’t going to work with someone they can’t trust. Next, people want to work with someone who feels his business is important. Nobody wants to join forces with someone who doesn’t feel the partnership is worth putting effort into.

Tip two: Make sure you have something to offer potential partners. Your reputation and that of your business must be spotless. This entails a good record with customer service and a quality product to offer your customers. You look for credibility by association with any partners; the same thing works in reverse..

Tip three: Don’t get lax on looking for potential partners. Not being constantly on watch will make it easier to miss an opportunity that would be perfect. You can find potential partners in forums and online lists. Just make sure the places you join have good reputations.

Once you have decided what kind of person you’d like to have as a partner and made a list of places to find those types of people, the search is nearly over. Ask questions and get all the answers you need to make a sound decision then make your offer and you are on your way.

The Different Types Of Resale Rights

As you may already know, there are many different kinds of resale rights that you can buy
or sell.

Here are the main types:

> Resale Rights
This gives you the right to resell a product to an end user. This can apply to both physical
and digital products. Where a digital product is concerned, you resell the product and keep
100% of the profits without losing the enjoyment of the same product as digital products
are duplicable in nature.

> Basic Resale Rights
You have the right to resell the product but your customer does not have the right to resell
it to another. You keep 100% of the profit after every sale you make.

> Master Resale Rights
You have the right to resell the product as well as the Basic Resale rights itself to your
customers. Your customers can in turn resell the same book to their customers. The
Master Resale rights can either be bundled together with the purchase of the product or
purchased separately from the product.

> Private Label Rights
This is the mother lode of all resale rights! Buying Private Label Rights usually give you
the right to change the product in any way you like, put your own name on it, sell resale
rights or even master resale rights to others and basically use and treat the product as it
were your own creation.

> Give Away Rights
You can give the product away for free. In most cases, however, you cannot resell and/or
edit it.

> Royalty Rights
You have to pay the original product author or franchisor a percentage of every sale made
by you. This right normally applies to physical products. McDonald’s and books found in
bookstores are very good examples that demonstrate this right.

At times you can purchase a product and it will automatically come with either resale rights
or master resale rights. Other times, you purchase the product and the resale or master
resale rights separately. In either case, once you have some type of resale rights to a
product, you may then begin making sales and you get to keep 100% of the profits.

This is just like having a product of your own. The only difference is that you are not
authorized to change anything about the product and the product creator’s name remains
on the product.

I’ll bet that you even own rights to products already and you may not even realize it. You
see, many products on the internet are sold with either resale rights or master resale rights
already. So, make sure that you read the sales letters carefully!

Blogging Comments Off

Blogs should be fun to make. Therefore, you will want to try different fun ways to customize that will help you out.

Whatever the purpose is for your blog it should say “you” on it, figuratively speaking, of course. Therefore, you will need to choose font colors, graphics, and logos that would be most appreciate for your blog site.

The layout and graphics of your blog site, and the color scheme should all be suitable for the subject matter that is displayed on your site. In order to decide how to design your blog, you will need to think of who the primary audience of your site will be.

For instance, if you design a site for football players it should not look the same as the site for a travel trip to Jamaica-unless perhaps you are talking about a football team that goes to Jamaica. There are always exceptions to the rule, but you will always need to be careful to stick as close to the subject at hand as possible when creating your blog.

Needing to stick to the subject does not take the fun out of creating your blog, however. In fact, you have other useful tools at your disposal. You can add RSS feeds to MP3 audio or video or you can add podcasting episodes on your site.

Anyone that has an MP3 player such as real player or a podcasting device such as iPod will be able to listen to or view content on a blog site. They will be entertained, educated, or informed as a result.

Other options for people who are looking for fun ways to spice up their blog site would be to use quizzes, games, or polls on their sites. The quizzes and polls are very fun for most people because they are interactive, and they teach a person about themselves. The games are also very fun, and can be often downloaded to a person’s computer to keep.

The quizzes or polls usually consist of a series of questions and the person responding receives a certain number of points based on the answers they choose. The games usually consist of a series of challenges for one or more person to conquer at a time for the fun of it.

If you are creating a fun blog site, you will also want to make sure that the content you present is fun as well. It can be light, humorous, interesting, and educational. You may want to tell jokes, reveal a word of the day, or perhaps share a favorite poem. What matters is that the content matches the purpose and the subject of your blog (or blog entry).

You can take a look at other humor and fun blogs to get an idea of what they should look like. You may want to simply search for “humor blogs” or “fun blogs” or similar phrase to find out what is available in the blog comedy world.

These blogs can be more than fun, however. These entertaining blogs can also make you some money. The purpose of providing fun on your blog site is often so that you can encourage your visitors to stay longer. If they stay longer they are more likely to click on one of the ads you have on your blogging site, if you have any. If you do, this could mean a profit for you.

Most blogs are very easy to make. They are one of the easiest promotional tools on the Internet to use, and they do not require any advanced computer language in most cases, such as the use of HTML. People of nearly any age can make a blog.

More ideas and advice can be found reading articles just like this one you have just read. These articles cover a variety of different issues, such as how to place RSS feeds on your blogs, how children who make blogs can be safe and so forth. Stay tuned for further reading.

The other aspect of blogging is to remember that it takes patience and time before you gain the results you would like. That means readership and participation, as well as sales if you are working to make money from a blog. Therefore, never give up, and remember that blogging is meant to be fun.
