One new option that is a definite way to deter comments is requesting visitors leave not only their own email but that of a friend.

Links: Links are the websites or blogs you choose to display on your blog. This is usually in your side bar. By exchanging links with quality blogs or websites you can increase your traffic and search engine ranking.

Blog-roll: A blog-roll is another way of displaying your links, but specifically for blogs. The blog community is largely about networking. A blog-roll is an easy way to add you new blog-links to your account. When you display your blog-roll you are doing a service for your fellow logger. This is the same with providing links.

Stat-counter: A statistics counter for your blog can be found either through your blog hosting service or an outside online service. These services allow you to see how many visitors you are receiving daily. More than this you can go in to detail as to what keywords brought the visitors to your blog, what website or blog were they referred from, and other important information that will help you keep your blog optimized.

Pinging: To give your blog the most exposure, there is a way to announce new content every time you enter a post and this is called pinging. A ping is when you notify a service like iPing or Ping-o-Matic, that you have updated your Blog and then in turn they send a signal to a server, which then creates a list of the newly updated Blogs and you will be included in that signal.

Blogging today is for everyone. The blog hosting services are so user friendly even for Internet newbies. It only takes minutes to get up and writing. Use these blogging terms and phrases and start blogging like a pro.

How Google’s PageRank Determines Search Engine Optimization

Some internet search engines are set up to look for keywords throughout a webpage, they then use a mathematical equation that takes in the amount of time the keywords appears on the webpage and factors it with the location of the keywords to determine the ranking of the webpage.

Other internet search engines use a process that judges the amount of times a webpage is linked to other web pages to determine how a webpage is ranked. The process of using links to determine search engine ranking is called link analysis.

Keyword searches and link analysis are both part of a routine internet search engine procedure called search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the art and science of making a website attractive to search engines, the more attractive a website appears to the search engine the higher it will rank in searches and in the world of internet searches ranking is everything.

As 2006 faced its last weeks, Google was the internet search engine that most internet users preferred. Approximately fifty percent of the times a consumer turned to a search engine for their internet needs they turned to Google. Yahoo! was the second favorite.

Most of Google’s popularity is credited to its preferred form of search engine optimization, a trademarked program Google dubbed PageRank. When PageRank was patented the patent was assigned to Stanford University.

PageRank was designed by Larry Page, (the name is a play on his name) and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University as part of a research project they were working on about internet search engines.

PageRank is based on the link analyses algorithm. PageRank is described as a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weight to each individual element of a hyperlink set of documents. The purpose is to measure its relative important with the set. The numerical weight assigned to any element is called PageRank of E. PR(E) is the denotation used.

PageRank operates on a system similar to a voting booth. Each time it finds a hyperlink to a webpage, PageRank counts that hyperlink as a vote that supports the webpage. The more pages that link to the page, the more votes of support the webpage receives. If PageRank comes across a website that has absolutely no links connecting it to another webpage then it is not awarded any votes at all.

Tests done with a model like PageRank have shown that the system is not infallible.

The HITS algorithm is an alternate to the PageRank algorithm.

Google’s powers that be take a dim view on spamdexing. In 2005 Google designed and activated a program called nofollow, a program they designed to allow webmasters and bloggers to create links that PageRank would ingnore. The same system was also used to keep spamdexing to a minumum.

Google has designed PageRank to be an eight-unit measurement. Google displays the value PageRank places on each website directly beside each website it displays.

It has been proposed that a version of PageRank should be used to replace ISI impact factor so that the quality of a journal citation can be determined.

Affiliate Marketing: The Future is Bright, but is it right for you?

Affiliate marketing is a great place to go when you don’t have products to sell of your own. It can also be handy if you do but just want to make some extra cash. The issue is it isn’t as easy as just slapping a banner up on your site. You need to be very selective to which programs you allow on your site. This will be a direct reflection of you so you want to make sure the merchant has a good business name. Check their feedback and see if their customers are happy with the products and services they have received. You don’t want to have any negative publicity attached to your business. You also want to make sure you are dealing with something relevant to what your site is all about. If you have a page with content articles about pottery you don’t want to affiliate with a rental car company. You would stick with companies that sell clay, pottery tools, craft paint, or types of already made pottery.

Just because a merchant has a large name for his or her self and the affiliate program could be profitable, doesn’t mean you should do it. You could not put this link on your site with out confusing your visitors if it holds no relevance. If you would like to take that affiliate program you should build a new site and start from scratch. This would take some of your time to build but it is much more appropriate. You also wouldn’t generate much money off of a site that sells rebuilt computers if you are promoting herbal remedies. Stay with merchants that are content specific. Even if the overall commission is lower, it will generate you much more money and repeat business in the long run. Be rational, what are the chances one of your herbal customers needs a rebuilt computer at the same time they are purchasing herbs?

Once you have figured out if a program offer is relevant to what your site contains, choose a web site with high ranks on keyword searches. The higher the ranking on a specific search engine, the higher the traffic that will be generated. This will also mean that this is a popular program, which is what you are looking for. You have found that site that will help you build a good affiliate relationship. Now it is time to contact your affiliate manager. This person will work with you to establish an account with said company. It is there job to be helpful and affective as well as respond back to you quickly. The affiliate manager should also be willing to go that extra step to make sure you have long-term success.

Make sure that you have all the ideas you have been working on all set up. Have your URL and make sure your site is up and running. By the time you get the site in order and it is generating a decent amount of hits you will be ready to talk with the affiliate manager. You will be able to show them what a benefit you are to their company and how you can help them gain more consumers. The more consumers you can attract for the merchant, the more money you will make as well. It is not a good idea to set up a page and then just act. You need to make sure that you are getting the volume of traffic you need to get someone to join an affiliate relationship with you. This can be a very lucrative investment. But it will require time and patience to get off the ground. Don’t expect instant success over night the minute after your site goes worldwide.

There is a good chance no one will see you right away. Not to mention it will take you a few months to add all your contact articles in the appropriate places. Use this time to build up your content and keywords to see what generate the most hits. Once you have finished the site and it now only requires maintenance then it is time to collect your data. This data will be able to inform the affiliate manager about how many visitors per minute or day you have. What your current search engine ranking is for the keywords. It will also let them visit your site to see if what you have done is relevant and will pull in business. The closer you are to what they want the better off you will be.

Effective Email Marketing

Email marketing is quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of Internet advertising. This is because there are many distinct advantages to the concept of email marketing. However, email marketing does have some disadvantages as well. In this article we will examine the advantages and disadvantages of email marketing and will also provide some insight into how to plan and execute an effective email marketing campaign.

Email marketing certainly has a set of unique advantages over other types of marketing both online and offline. Perhaps one of the most significant advantages to email marketing is the ability to reach a worldwide audience with minimal effort. It is certainly possible to reach a worldwide audience with other types of advertising but traditional types of advertising such as television, radio and the print media are not nearly as effective for reaching potential customers around the world all at once.

Another major advantage to email marketing is it is extremely affordable. This is significant because there are many other types of marketing, including Internet marketing, which are significantly more expensive than email marketing. The costs associated with email marketing are minimal. Ideally you will already have a list of email recipients who are interested in your products and services so there is no cost associated with obtaining a list of email addresses. Additionally the cost to send out emails is minimal and can be considered part of your regular operating costs. All of these factors already make email marketing extremely cost effective.

However, there is some cost involved in email marketing. Primarily this is the costs associated with writing the advertisements and creating any graphics which will accompany the email advertisements. This will require hiring a writer to write the copy for the advertisement and a designer to create and implements the graphics. The cost of these services will vary pretty widely but in general you will pay more for writers and designers with more experience. This is because these writers and designers are expected to be able to produce a higher quality of work than those with less experience could produce.

The most obvious disadvantage to email marketing is the possibility of having your email marketing viewed as spam. This is a very important problem because it could prove to be quite costly in terms of the profit margin for your business. Each day Internet users are bombarded with unsolicited emails serving as advertisements. This problem has reached epic proportions and the abundance of spam infiltrating the email boxes of innocent Internet users has to be cautious and suspicious about any email they receive which is unsolicited and appears to be promoting a particular product or service.

Emails which contain subject lines or content which appear to be similar to spam may be automatically transferred to a spam email folder by the email system. Emails which are not automatically deleted may be deleted without being opened simply because the recipient does not recognize the sender of the email. Both of these problems can result in essentially wasted time for the business owner because the recipients are not even viewing the emails advertising the products and services offered by the business. Additionally, they may result in complaints being lodged against the company for being a purveyor of spam.

Now that you understand the advantages and disadvantages of email marketing, you might wonder how you can maximize the advantages to use email marketing to your advantage. The most important factor to consider is your email distribution list. This should consist of former customers who have expressed a desire to receive emails with information and advertisements as well as potential customers who have also expressed interest in more information.

The content of the emails should also be carefully considered. They should certainly highlight the products and services you offer but should do so without appearing to be a hard sales pitch. A writer with experience in writing this type of copy should be able to assist you in providing insightful and accurate copy which also entices the reader to find out more about your products and services. Finally your emails should provide the readers with a call to action. This should be a statement urging the reader to take a specific action such as making a purchase or researching a product.

Increase Traffic with AdWords

Adwords is the component of Googles advertising programs that allows web masters or SEO professionals to advertise web sites via links from other web sites. Adwords is used in conjunction with adsense in such a way that your links are placed only on the most relevant web pages. You are given a good deal of traffic at a very reasonable price and the conversion rate from adwords is higher than that of any other pay per click advertising system on the web.

As I just mentioned, Google Adwords is a pay per click service. This means that you must pay Google a certain amount for each click that you receive via your adwords links. The best part about this is that you never have to pay unless your link is clicked so every payment that you make to Google was in exchange for a real, live potential customer.

When advertising with Adwords, it is crucial that your advertising links go to pages that have high conversion rates. You don’t want to send traffic to a page that doesn’t make money. If you have one page that absolutely blows the other pages out of the water in the way of conversion rates, setting up an adwords program that links to this site can give your profits a huge kick.

Once you have decided what pages you are going to link your ads to, you must decide what you are going to place in your ads. Google Adwords allows you to place a headline, two descriptions, a URL to display, and a destination URL. The best way to configure this is to put the title of your destination page into the title, use the two description lines to inform your visitors of what they are going to see, list your domain or root directory as the display URL, and use a high conversion page as the destination URL. This combination of information will provide your visitors with the best idea as to whether or not they are going to find something that they want to purchase on your site.

Remember that there may be a page with a high sales rate that doesn’t stand alone well if you send traffic directly to it. If you have pages that build up the products sold, these may be the places that your links are better spent. You may want to provide your visitors with a brief description or several pages of information regarding your product before sending them to the order page.

Google attempts to enforce its standards so that you do not pay for clicks that are made merely in an attempt to boost an adsense users profits. This is crucial because there are so many web masters out there who will continually click on the ads on their own pages in an attempt to boost their profits. These clicks do nothing for you as the web master probably doesn’t even look at the page before exiting it and clicking the links again.

Google’s anti-fraud system is a match for that of any advertising agency on the net. It is, however, possible that you will pay for an click here and there that is not honest. This is the risk involved in Google Adwords. It is so easy to think that you have come up with a powerful solution with no possible downside, but the possibility of fraud is always there when it comes to online pay per click ads.

The best way to combat fraudulent clicks is to keep close tabs on your statistics. If you are getting hundreds of visits from a particular web page each day and each of the visits is under twenty cents in length, there is more than a slight possibility that it is a fraudulent attempt to inflate that site’s adsense earnings. If you encounter such a practice, report it to Google immediately. This will save you and many other web masters a great deal of money. The fact that there are dishonest people in this world will not change, but the dishonesty of pay per click advertisement is diminishing and will, hopefully, continue to do so.

When using adwords, you will increase your traffic, but that isn’t the goal. The goal of advertising is to increase profits so if your profits do not increase when you begin to utilize adwords, you may want to reevaluate your usage of your ads. You may decide that you need to change the destination page or you may find that you want to display your ads on pages based in different countries. Whatever you decide, the fact is that if you plan carefully, adwords is bound to increase your sales opportunities.

A Guide to Advertising in the Media.

The media is a powerful thing — the average person spends an enormous amount of their life consuming it in one form or another, and will spend a significant percentage of that time looking at, listening to or watching advertisements. If you want to use the power of the media, though, you need to know what you’re doing.

Advertising in Newspapers and Magazines.

There are two kinds of advertising you can get in newspapers and magazines: classified and display. Classifieds are the small ads towards the back of the publication, while display ads can be almost any size, from a small corner of a page to a massive double-page spread.

If there’s a publication you’re interested in advertising in, either go to its website (the rate card section) or call its advertising department to find out the rates it charges. Now pick your jaw up off the floor. Yes, advertising in the print media really is that expensive, and for most home businesses it probably just won’t be that economical.

There is, however, an exception: niche and trade magazines. If you’ve ever looked around in a newsagent, you will have seen just how many magazines there are out there, filling every conceivable gap in the market. You need to find the magazine that people who are interested in your services might read. For example, if you’re a wedding photographer, look for a magazine called ‘Your Wedding’, ‘Bride’, or something similar. Advertising in these magazines will be far cheaper than placing an ad in a general-audience publication, and far more likely to actually get some responses.

Advertising on the Radio.

Wherever you are, the chances are that there’s a local radio station. Once your home business grows to a decent size, you might consider buying some time on it.

Really, though, the only kind of home business that can benefit enough from radio ads to justify the cost is one that does anything to do with cars. Since radio is almost entirely limited to use as in-car entertainment now, you know that almost everyone your ad reaches will be a car-owner, and so might be interested in what you’re offering. If you offer something that people need cheaply or even for free, you can get a big response.

Unfortunately, that response could be a little too big — thanks to the time-sensitivity of radio, you’ll get mobbed the next day, and then everyone will forget you again. Radio advertising offers the listener no opportunity to keep your ad and refer to it later, or to find it again in the future. You will find that any ads involving a phone number are spectacularly useless.

Advertising on the Television.

Unless your business is getting pretty big, this would be quite a bad idea. You’d have trouble producing and airing an ad even on local cable channels for less than $10,000. Of course, if there’s a market for your product and you’ve got the budget for this, you could take a gamble and make a mint. The home businesses that tend to do best out of TV ads are ones that have a ‘unique and useful invention’ product with easy-to-demonstrate benefits — think infomercial. Research shows that you can sell almost anything given a 60-second ad, a free phone number and a price point of $19.95.

Advertising on Billboards.

Here’s one that gets overlooked pretty often, but can be very effective if you do it right. Billboard ads are relatively expensive, but they do generally stay up for a long time, and they can be very specifically targeted to an area — the one where they’re physically located. You’ll have the best results with this if you can put one near enough to your business that it could say ‘turn left at the next junction’, or something like that. Phone numbers are, again, pretty useless, although you could have some luck putting a website address up there.

Advertising at the Movies.

Finally, here’s one that often gets overlooked. If you turn up to the cinema early, you might have seen that before the big-budget ads, ads for local businesses are run. This can be a great place to advertise relatively inexpensively in quite a high-profile way, and it works especially well for takeaway food businesses.

Finding A Product That is in Demand

The first step in starting a successful online business is providing something there is a need for. It is advisable to do your homework and know for sure there is a demand for what you plan to sell before you try to market it. You may get lucky, but the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Skimping on the research won’t work on this step. Make a list of every niche you would consider working in. Then, research thoroughly. Once you know if there is a demand and how much of a demand there is, you will be in a better position of choosing your product or service.

One way you can check the need for a certain item is to join the forums in your target area. Get an idea for what people are talking about while you interact with them. Listen for people saying they can’t find something they have been searching for. This is the best place to start your research.

The internet has numerous tools to help you with your search. Entering keywords and phrases will narrow down your search. Some tools will tell you how many people used that term to search in a certain amount of time. Another thing to look at is the number of clicks. Clicks and hits will tell you how much of a demand there is for your niche. The higher the number, usually the higher the demand is for items in that area.

Other tools tell you how many people have visited a site. You may decide a certain niche is in high demand. You don’t see many websites devoted to it. Checking how many people actually visit those existing sites will let you know whether there are so few because there isn’t enough of a market-or it will verify that there is indeed a market waiting for you.

By doing your research thoroughly, you will find some of your ideas workable and some not worth the effort. Use your common sense and make the decision for which niche is best..

Giving Others Free Reprint Rights

Giving Others Free Reprint Rights

The purpose of writing and distributing articles is threefold: to increase website traffic, to establish your credentails as an expert, and ultimately to sell more products or services. Just writing and submitting articles won’t do this, however. You must make it possible for your articles to become viral.

An article that you write is distribute to the various article sites on the Internet only one time. From there, ezine publishers, blog writers, and website owners who have an interest in information in your area will find the article and publish it on their websites, blogs, and in their ezines. This starts the viral domino effect.

From those websites, blogs, and ezines, other people will pick it up and publish it in their ezines and on their websites. The one article just snowballs. The sky is the limit.

Ten years from now, you could be wandering the Internet and stumble across an article that you wrote and distributed just today. It shouldn’t come as a surprise if that website owner only recently published your article on their site. If you search for that same article, at that time ten years from now, you may be astounded as to many times that one article appears!

The article will all but disappear, however, unless you give it the ability to become viral. You do this by including a notice at the very bottom of the article giving others permission to reprint the article, free of charge, as long as the article remains unchanged, and your resource box is included in the reprint.

It’s that easy. One small sentence at the bottom of your articles can change the entire path of your article simply by allowing it to be reprinted. This will in turn change your business for the better. Without that notice, others won’t know if they can use your article, even if it is posted at an article site. If there is a doubt, most people will pass up reprinting the article to protect themselves from accusations of copyright infringement.

To make sure your article becomes viral, make that one sentence permission a normal part of all your article.

Secrets of Profiting From Resale & Master Resale Rights to Niche Products

Make Money Online No Comments »

Here are three ways to profit from resale & master resale rights to niche products:

1) Profiting by selling the rights to your own products

Creating and selling niche products can be a challenging but very profitable business. There is considerable work involved and many hard hours before your product will be ready for sale.

Imagine then your bitter disappointment when you don’t make a single sale. After days and days of relentless promotion all you have to show for the effort is a string of bills…

That’s one end of the spectrum, here’s the other:

After considerable effective promotion you have made numerous sales, but sales are dropping off. The market that you have managed to penetrate is becoming saturated; you simply can’t find enough people to sell your product to.

In both cases you need to find a different market niche or approach your existing niche from a different “angle” to find more customers. One very effective way to do this is to use the efforts of established marketers who are already selling in your market niche or in a similar one. It is to these marketers you can offer the rights to your product.

Essentially you are selling the rights which allow them to sell your products and keep all the proceeds (resale rights), or you could allow them to sell the rights to your products (master resale right).

You should only sell a certain number of products with rights and base your product pricing on the rights, for example:

– Unlimited copies with no rights @ $20 each.

– 200 copies with resale rights @ $150 each.

– 100 copies with master resale rights @ $300 each.

2) Profiting by selling products you have purchased the rights to

You might not be in the slightest bit interested in creating your own niche products, so buying the rights to sell somebody else’s products gets you started quickly.

Don’t “jump the gun” – it’s important you have a market to sell to. Getting carried away and buying resale products just because the price is good is a sure way to loose money. The correct sequence is:

1) Find a niche market that is ready and willing to buy.

2) Purchase a niche product to sell the market.

One point worth remembering is niche product creators who sell resale rights often include the sales website as a bonus. This means a number of people will be selling the same niche product from identical websites.

The success of your sales is going to depend on how much you can differentiate your package from everybody else’s, don’t follow the crowd. A few examples of how you could do this are:

i) Redesign the sales website, for example you could:

– Use different sales copy

– Use different graphics

ii) Purchase similar products that have resale rights and offer them as bonuses. Check the rights before you buy the product… Very often product creators will not allow their products to be given away or used as bonuses.

iii) Write your own brief 10 to 15 page report related to the niche product and offer it as an exclusive bonus.

3) Profiting by creating and selling resale rights packages

To do this you must own niche products with master resale rights. You want to sell the resale rights to other people.

Far too many people try this avenue for earning an income on the internet and the end result is a number of resale rights packages which are practically identical, because they all bought their master resale rights niche products from the same sources.

If you have decided to pursue this avenue, your success will depend on how unique your package is. You need to source as many niche products with master resale rights (preferably that nobody else is selling) as you can. The products don’t have to be from the same niche, but must be related.

For example, if you decide to put together a package of products related to dieting; your package could include e-books in these niches:

- diet recipes

- exercises

- dieting

- fat reduction

Bear in mind your exclusivity won’t last long. As soon as your package is revealed, others will try to include the same products as you.

In all three cases, you can profit from resale and master resale rights to niche products, but there is one common denominator… Make sure you have a market to sell to. Do your research first and make sure your niche is full of people who are ready and willing to buy.
