Blogging ABCs with RSS Feeds

RSS is an XML formatted file, and the initials for RSS stand for Really Simple Syndication. The most common use of an RSS feed file is for news feeds. You can have news automatically displayed for you. This is the case with blogs as well.
People can read some of this content from their web browser while others of it needs to be read by way of a feed aggregator. Another name for a feed aggregator is a feed reader.
Different types of aggregators read RSS feeds. For instance, some are web-based such as Bloglines or “My Yahoo!”. Some of them are used on the desktop, such as Awasu, FeedDemon, and Newsfire.
RSS feeds can be created for both written and spoken content. They can also be created for videos as well. Podcasting episodes are Internet presentations that are often associated with the use of RSS feeds. Podcasting episodes can be played either MP3 players such as Real One or on a podcatcher.
In addition, most blogs such the ones on Blogger.com have feeds automatically build in to them. That means that a person at any time could subscribe to a particular blog. Then, with the proper feed reading software that content is instantly delivered to the person who has subscribed to the blog feed.
If you have created your own RSS feed you add it to an RSS feed directory. You can also place the blog that the feed is attached to in blog directory links as submit the blog feed to search engines. Using an RSS feed is not necessary a solution totally in itself. However in the blogging world it definitely helps speed up mass communication quite a bit.
Different feeds work well on different operating systems, and it is important for you to learn which feeds are best in a situation. You will have to choose the ones that will work best for your computer (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.).
RSS feeds are useful in helping a user decide what they want to see or don’t want to see. Therefore, if a user signs up to an RSS feed of your blog you will know that they have chose to receive new blog entries from you. It is automatic, and you do not need to worry about spam in this case.
RSS feeds have become so popular that they have become just as an important way to communicate as e-mail. Obviously, e-mail is still very important, but for certain marketing and large communication purposes, RSS feeds are considered the better of the two.
You can create your own RSS feeds to place on your blog sites. In order to do this, the feeds that you create require three main bits of information. Those pieces of info are the title, description, and the link. These bits of information are inserted between XML tags, which look very similar to HTML tags. This is an advanced written Internet language.
Once you have created RSS feeds for your blog site, you will also want to make those feed files known throughout the Web. You can place them on your blog site and you can also submit them to RSS directories.
The downside of RSS feeds is it is one more thing that it requires for a user to know. Not everyone knows about RSS feeds yet. Therefore, if you are going to use one on your blog site you will want to consider giving people some brief directions about how to use it. In addition, you may want to add links of popular feed readers that people can use to access the feeds either by desktop or browser.
If you are making a blog site and you want to attract visitors RSS feeds can benefit you in many ways. Moreover, you will be providing a great service for all those who are able to read feeds on their computer.
The process of using RSS feeds can seem overwhelming at first. However, it is important that you learn the process in order to be a successful blogger. After some time you are sure likely to get the hang of making the feeds and generating them. These feeds will help you in your blogging endeavors.
