(2) Build A Partners List

Establishing a joint venture effort with several of your on line partners who have complimentary but not competitive Web sites, can be very beneficial.

One good source of potential partners would be the Directory of Ezines.com. http://www.directoryofezines.com/ . While this is not a free resource, it can be a beneficial investment that provides you with a ton of information on ezines, advertising and other resources.

You can then swap advertising efforts and share in promotion of each others offers. They can benefit from your promotion of their products or services in your list of subscribers and you can do the same.

To make your contacts with potential joint venture partners easier you can create some contact letters to use as templates. Simply personalize each new contact with their name and information.

It’s a win-win situation.

(3) Visit Forums

Location and use of on line forums which are appropriate to your niche can be very beneficial to your site. Most of them will allow you to include a signature file with a URL to your site in your posts you make to the forum.

To locate appropriate forums to visit, simply do a search on one of the major search engines for “forums:marketing.” Include the niche you want to find as the second word in your search.

Try to provide helpful answers to those asking questions and needing help in forums you visit. Become a resource that is trusted and respected. You will be more likely to gain some traffic and sales at your site. Be sure to read their rules to make sure you are not spamming.

A conscientious effort by you to apply these promotional efforts outlined in the article above create promotions that sticks like peanut butter and results in increased traffic and sales of your product or services.

It seems that there are hundreds of new terms entering our vocabulary each year because of technology. It wasn’t so long ago that nobody would have understand what ‘go and Google it’ would mean. The latest craze bringing in a wealth of new terms of its own is Twitter.

Let’s look at how you can increase your chances of meeting the tweeple. (This is just one of those new terms mentioned. It is so new that spelling checkers still think it is a mistake). Tweeple are simply people using Twitter. Why would you want to meet people using Twitter? The reason is that there is a potential to reach a huge audience very quickly. Unlike spam email the people reading your messages (or tweets) have opted in to do so by becoming your ‘followers’. This raises the possibility for Twitter marketing.

It is not a good idea to blatantly advertise in twitter – even though many do. Apart from the fact that people may stop following you, they are also a lot less likely to click on any of your links. A better method is to tell a story. For example, you could send a tweet that said something like ‘You’ll never guess what happened to me at the shops today – find out the full story [link]’. This would arouse curiosity. The link would send readers to your blog or website where you could include an interesting pre-sell story. Not only would you get more clicks, you are likely to get higher conversions.

Of course, none of this is going to happen if you don’t have followers. There are some simple steps you can take to increase the likelihood of others following you. The simplest is to make good use of your twitter profile. You should include a picture of yourself in order to appear personal and approachable. If you have a website then you should include the URL in the profile. Twitter allows you to add up to 160 characters for your bio. This is an area you should put some thought into. As well as introducing yourself you should add something about the niche you are targeting.

An advanced tip is to change the profile background. Most people couldn’t be bothered doing this so this one small change can help you stand out from the crowd. Not only can you change the background color, you can also add a picture. This could be a picture of yourself, your product or one that just sets a theme.

Affiliate Link Cloaking – Quick, Easy and Free

You know already that it’s probably a good idea to cloak your affiliate links. The more savvy surfers become about affiliate marketing and the links that represent your “paycheck,” the greater the likelihood that someone unsavory is going to hijack your affiliate ID and substitute it for their own. If they’re truly bloody minded, they could choose to bypass it altogether and simply cut you out of your hard earned commission.

So a variety of solutions have appeared over the years to make it harder for the bad guys to win. There are a number of free services that will cloak your link for you, like TinyURL, KlasLink, and others (some of which are paid services), which serve the dual purpose of hiding your ID and shortening a very long link into a tidy bit of more manageable code. While handy, surfers are becoming more familiar with them, and jump to the instant (and understandable) conclusion that clicking on one of these links is going to take them directly to a sales page. Unless their credit cards are already out of their wallets and poised for service, most people are going to choose to forego the sales pitch, and your persuasive copy will never have a chance to work its magic.

There are also several small software programs that will cloak your link – of variable usefulness and stability. Although you can download them for free, you’re left with the same problem of not being able to customize the code to de-emphasize the fact that the link is a sales tool.

The best solution is a bit of php code that will give you everything you want, with a single initial setup and no cost involved. You don’t even have to know anything about php coding. As long as you know how to upload a file, you’re gold. Here’s how to do it:

Begin by logging in to your host account. Create a directory/folder under your main domain name and call it “recommends” (or any variation you prefer; “likes,” “suggests,” etc.). Whatever you call this directory will be viewable by your visitors, so pick something pithy and upbeat.

Let’s say your domain name is http://marketersdream.com. In your FTP program or on your cpanel, whichever you’re using to access your site files, right click on marketersdream and select ‘create folder,’ then give it the name you’ve decided on. Let’s say you name it “recommends.”

Now you have a path that looks like this: http://marketersdream.com/recommends.

Let’s say you now want to promote a product called “winzip.” You create a directory under the recommends directory and call it “winzip.” Now you have a path like this: http://marketersdream.com/recommends/winzip.

Nearly done! Now all you need is an index.php file that redirects the user to your affiliate link. Here’s how you do that:

In Notepad, make a file and name it “index.php.” Here is all that should be in that file:

header(“Location: YOURCOMPLETEAFFILIATELINK”);
exit();
?>

Whatever the affiliate program you joined gave you as your unique affiliate link, just paste it over the capital letters above, making sure it includes the http:// part. If you wish to take the cloaking one step further, you can cloak your affiliate link with something like TinyURL, then paste THAT code over the capital letters. That way you ensure that your affiliate ID can’t be seen at any step during the redirection process.

So, in our example, you would paste your complete affiliate link for the “winzip” product over the capital letters in the code, save the file as index.php, then upload it into the http://marketersdream.com/recommends/winzip directory that you just created.

You’re finished. Now, whenever anyone clicks on the link http://marketersdream.com/recommends/winzip, they will be redirected to your affiliate page at Winzip. In future, with each new product you’re promoting, simply create a new folder under “recommends,” name it after the affiliate product, and upload the index.php file with the new affiliate link. Quick setup, easy solution, no cost. Just like it says on the box!

So You Want to be an Internet Marketer?

Perhaps you’ve given a lot of thought to becoming an Internet marketer and earning a good living from home. There are many things you like about the idea – you get to work from home in your pajamas, you can make a digital product and sell it over and over and over, you can work whenever you want to without punching a time clock and if you want to go to the kids’ school play in the middle of the day, you can. There is also the pull of potentially making more money than you do right now.

Yes, it is possible to become a successful Internet marketer and make good money, but it’s not an overnight short path to riches that some may have you believe. There is a lot of learning that has to happen as well as hard work on your part to find the success and duplicate it again and again.

There are three stages of Internet marketing that you will go through and they’ll be explained here so you understand what’s ahead for you in your big career change.

Stage 1: Information overload and paralysis by analysis

You start off by making the decision to become an Internet marketer. For some, it’s an easy decision and for others it’s hard. Either way, you have to decide to go all the way with it – not just dabble. Sticking your toe in and running the other way the minute you notice the water is a little cold will not get you the results you really desire.

You’re now on dozens of marketers’ lists and you spend a good portion of your day reading their emails and following up on their latest promotions. You’re afraid not to read them or you might miss something. There has been so much information coming your way and you’re so busy trying to keep up and absorb it all that you don’t get anything accomplished.

Stage 2: Take focused action

The first stage lasts until one day you wake up and ask yourself what you’re doing and how come you’re not doing anything to make some real money yet. Some people jump ship before they reach this point. But you’ve realized it’s time to opt-out of most of the lists you’re on, pick a business model that resonates with you, become more focused in your learning (and spend less time on it), and begin taking focused action.

You’re fully committed to the one path you’ve chosen and you “drill deep:, and make some mistakes but have consistent success. This is when it starts getting fun, especially when you see consistent money coming into your PayPal account.

Stage 3: Fine tune and make it hands off

Now that you’re having success with the business model you’ve chosen, you will automate it as much as you can. Your emails go out through an autoresponder, your content is automatically delivered to your clients and subscribers, and you’ve got all your systems in place. You can easily duplicate what you’ve done because you’ve created templates, action sheets, and know all the shortcuts.

You are also building a team to work with you. You have a graphic designer, website maker, and article /blog post/ ebook writers at your disposal. You’ve built relationships with other Internet marketers and have affiliates.

Are You Promoting The Right Link?

If you are promoting an affiliate link or your own site or service, without first capturing the customer’s name and email address, you are leaving lots of business and money on the table.

This may seem very basic promotion and marketing information for many of you who have been working on line for any length of time. It seems that many others just have not totally figured out how to go about promoting effectively.

When you promote a bare affiliate link, the potential customer clicks on the link and goes to the site. They either buy at the sales page or surf on never to return The percentage of sales for first-time visitors is very low.

Whatever effort including money and time that you put forth to get the customer to that sales page is gone. That potential customer has been lost to you forever.

Here’s a much more profitable approach:

- Invest some money and purchase a good, dependable auto-responder service. A simple search of the internet will provide you many options. Staying with one of the better known ones will probably prove to be your best investment.

- Get their name and email address by sending them to a lead capture page. These are simple to set up and there are even some free software programs that will provide you one by simply filling in some information about your site.

- After signing up to your auto-responder on the lead capture page, they are sent a welcome message with the link you are promoting, and they then go to the sales page.

- They are sent a series of follow-up messages over a period of days and weeks. Your offer is seen again and again by them. You will probably want to include additional, related offers for them to review also.

- Multiple exposures to your offer has been proven to be much more effective to over coming sales resistance. As many as seven messages may be needed according to some research. Remember, the “Squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

This approach of first capturing their name and email address on your list will turn out to be much more profitable to you in your promotion and marketing efforts.

Your sales will increase because you have captured their name and email address and are able to remind them of your product or service over and over again with personalized messages which are sent out automatically by your auto-responder at pre-set intervals.

What Makes A Blog Post Viral

The best type of advertising has three characteristics. It is free, impactful and viral. What kind of advertising fulfills all three characteristics? Word of mouth! It is free because it is spontaneous, unsolicited and natural. It is impactful because the persons spreading it were impacted and they spread the news out of their own impacted emotions. And it is extremely viral because it spreads exponentially. Imagine if your blog posts could be passed around this way.

What kind of blog post can achieve such a viral nature? A viral blog can be one of several kinds:

1. A HOW TO blog post

The HOW TO blog post shows the reader how to do something that many people want to know. If you know how to do something that most people do not, you could post a step-by-step guide on how to do it to your blog. Once the right people discover your blog post, they will naturally and spontaneously spread your blog post to others. You could write about how to speak in public, how to write HTML, how to play the piano by ear, how to take great photos etc. There are literally thousands of ‘how to’ things you could post about.

2. A UNIQUE TWIST blog post

This type of blog post is closely related to the first HOW TO type. This is where you blog about something that is common knowledge but you put your own unique twist to it, something that most people have never thought of. It may well be totally contrary to conventional practice. One example is article marketing. The conventional practice in article marketing is where you write articles and submit them to article directories. But if you have a better and more effective way of article marketing, post about it in your blog. For example, instead of submitting articles to directories, you could offer your articles to blog owners or newsletter owners in your niche. Tell them they can make your article available to their readers for free as long as no changes are made to any of the content. This way you get much more targeted readers reading your article and more powerful link juice back to your blog because it comes from another blog that is related to your own instead of from a general article directory.

3. A HOT REVIEW blog post

This type of post follows the principle of the early bird catching the worm. This is where you blog about the latest hot topic in your niche and give an honest appraisal of what is good and what is bad about whatever is happening. Since the topic is new, virtually no one has much knowledge, much less a view about it. This works tremendously well for political blogs. But the review can also be about the hottest gadget or the latest book or the newest trend in your niche. One great place where you can find out the latest happenings is Google Trends. If you are the first to blog about whatever is happening, you can capture the initial interest of the public and people will start passing your blog post around like wildfire. When that wave dies down, simply find the next sizzling development and review it and the process repeats itself.

These are just three ways you can make your blog viral. Obviously, you will not succeed every time, but if you keep at it, you will hit the jackpot sooner or later. And as a result, the readership of your blog experiences an exponential spurt of growth.

Do you Twitter?

It’s the latest craze, and one that can make you money, build your brand, get you clients, and bring on some great joint venture projects. No one made me the Twitter police but I have noticed there are ways to work Twitter and there are ways to use Twitter that won’t get you any work.

Here are some dont’s with regards to getting followers:

1. Don’t try to amass a huge following before you’ve done some tweeting. People will not be interested in following you when they click on your Twitter page to see what you’ve got, and notice you don’t have much. You need to have tweeted more than, “Trying to figure this Twitter out” and “I think I’ve got it figured out now.” Tweet, tweet, tweet before you gather your flock. Don’t know what to say? Try “retweeting” (RT) some other peoples’ tweets that resonate with you. Reply to what someone else says and start up a conversation. Tell what you’re doing on your business right now. Those are several tweets in the making right there.

2. Don’t shoot out promotion after promotion. When others look at your timeline, they’ll notice you’re just in it for you. People want to know what’s in it for them. There are millions of Twitters to follow, why should they follow you when you’re only tweeting about your own annoying promotions?

3. Engage in conversation with your Twitter friends. If they’re your friends/followers, shouldn’t you reply to them on a daily basis? I don’t mean reply to all of them everyday, just do several replies to various tweets a day. Again, your potential followers will look at your Twitter timeline and if you don’t ever talk to anyone, it’s a big turn off. It says ME, ME, ME. So hit @reply and give attaboys, words of encouragement, comments on their blog post link or tell them how you like their latest product. Offer answers when someone has a question, which is an excellent way to brand yourself as an expert. And if someone @replies to one of your posts, it’s considered common courtesy to comment back.

The biggest advantage of Twitter is using it to build relationships. Offer value, yes, but also take the time to “talk” to people so they can see you as a real life person. Give first, make friends, and watch your business world open up – just from tweeting on Twitter.

What is it that you truly want?

Whatever it is, make it a concrete, visible, tangible BURNING DESIRE and that will give you the focus you need to cut out time and money wasting habits and invest that saved time and money in your online business.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the key time wasting NON-ESSENTIAL activities that many people are addicted to, often simply because they have not developed a BURNING DESIRE to achieve anything more positive in their lives.

First and foremost, television must be the chief time-waster in many people’s lives.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with television in itself. It is the way people spend hours of their lives in unplanned TV viewing that is the problem. So if you cannot or do not want to cut the goggle box out of your life, at least plan and ration your viewing time. Use the TV guide to plan your viewing and look out for programs that will inform and educate you.

Now, here are some other activities that you will want to ration, cut back on or eradicate from your life altogether in order to save time and money for your Internet business:

spectator sports; socializing with negative-minded types who can drain you of your self-belief; telephone conversations, email and online chat; surfing the Internet with no clear purpose in mind; newspapers and magazines; gambling and lotteries; smoking; drinking (both alcohol and beverages – cut out those long coffee breaks); expensive cars; cinema; clubbing; fashion and vanity; long baths; long dinners; restaurants; bars; DVDs; expensive holidays; impulse purchases and window shopping expeditions; searching for bargains on eBay…

Perhaps as you read through the list and came to activities that you enjoy you found yourself making an excuse for them… Just remember the old saying, “No pain, no gain”!

You don’t (really) have to become a hermit who spends all day working on the Internet with just a couple of ten minute breaks for bread and water. But if you do want to succeed online and are operating with limited time and money, then you will need to decide where your priorities lie and act accordingly.

One final point is to see yourself not so much as giving up stuff, but as REPLACING a non-productive activity that eats into your precious time and money with a new, positive activity that is both fun and productive.

Yes, Internet marketing IS a lot of fun. If you are willing to save time and money on other pursuits in order to invest in your online business you will build new friendships and associations as you make contact on the Internet with mentors, fellow marketers, and a growing network of customers and affiliates.

Really, it is up to you what you really want to do with your life, your time and your money.
