Using AdSense Optimized Web Site Templates
Adsense June 21st, 2007When the Google AdSense program first got rolling, many would be web site entrepreneurs rushed to sign up for the program, dreaming of hundreds or even thousands of dollars in earnings month after month. For many of these web site owners, however, the reality was quite different, and quite disappointing. Many of these AdSense participants found themselves barely making enough money to cover the costs of running their web sites, and many subsequently dropped out of the program.
The problem, however, is not the program itself. Indeed, the Google AdSense program has been providing many smart and savvy web site owners with a very good living month after month. The problem, however, is that in order for it to work properly, the ads hosted on the participating web sites must be properly formatted and optimized to provide the maximum revenue.
The difference in response rates and click through rates between a properly formatted ad and a poorly formatted one can be enormous. A Google AdSense ad that is placed in a poor position on the page may be almost totally ignored, while an ad that is properly positioned and formatted to look like an integral part of the web site may be clicked on by a large percentage of visitors to the web site.
Unfortunately for web site owners and AdSense participants, however, it often takes a combination of a great many tiny tweaks and changes in order to achieve the desired results. Each tiny change and tweak of the web site, the ad placement and the format of the web site can have a small effect on click through rates and ad performance, but taken together these small ads can ad up to a huge difference in ad response.
One approach is to make a tiny change to the web site, then track the response rates using the tools provided by Google itself. Each effective change can then be built upon until the site has been optimized.
There are of course a number of obvious problems with this approach, not the least of which is the significant loss of potential revenue while you are getting the site just right. After all, you signed up for Google’s AdSense program to make money, but constantly tweaking the site can have the effect of harming your earnings while you are finding the perfect combination of background colors, fonts, font weights and borders.
The better approach for most web site owners is to let someone else do all the hard work of optimizing borders, font sizes, and background colors, then taking that hard work and applying it to your own web site. Learning to place the Google ads in just the right spots on your web site can take a great deal of work, but finding a great ready made template can make this difficult job a great deal easier and less of a hassle.
Another great thing about using such a template is that these templates are endlessly and easily customizable to meet your own specific needs. It can be very difficult to find the right mix of colors, styles and other formats, but having a ready made template to go by can make the job of designing a winning AdSense optimized web site a great deal easier.
In addition, the fact that these ready made templates can be so easily changed means that no two web sites will look alike. This is important, of course, because the first impression is vital to the success of any web site. Using an easily customizable web site is a great way to increase AdSense revenue while getting those web sites up quickly and easily.
